Opportunity Details
Position type: Patient Partner

Number of positions available: Two (2)

Organization: Faculty of Nursing, University of Regina

Role overview: The Patient Partner will serve in an advisory role to assist the research team with the development of qualitative questions to further a research project that is looking at the use of virtual reality for competency assessment and education to see if virtual reality useful, considered helpful for testing and learning purposes, and to help the team identify any practical issues with the use of virtual reality. The Patient Partner can share their experiences, perceptions of virtual reality use and look at issues of using virtual reality tools in their own home. We would welcome their support at the end of the project with presenting findings at conferences, reviewing any written work.

Knowledge, experience, skills required: A person who has come to Canada from another country (or who is already in Canada) and having issues around access and training or being licensed to work in their trained area as a health care professional. Ideally it will be a person who has worked in healthcare. We need the person to share their experiences with the team and help us the question development so that we can fully understand how virtual reality may help with assessing competency/education purposes and help us to identify if there are other things the team needs to further examine in our project (from their own experience or personal perspective) so that we do not miss any important areas that need to be addressed.

Time commitment: The project will start in January 2023 and is expected to finish by September 2023. Time commitment may be up to 5 hours, however it is expected to be about 2 to 3 hours a week.

Location: Regina, Saskatoon or Virtual via Zoom

What you can expect from the research team: The research team will be setting up the meetings, outline where they can help and will provide regular updates on the status of the project.
