Institutional Non-Participation in Medical Assistance in Dying: Why Non-Participation Policies Persist within Saskatchewan Hospitals and their Impact on Patients and Providers

Role overview: As a participant in this study, you will be asked to engage in an interview which is expected to take 30-60 minutes of your time. Depending on your preference, the interview may occur in-person, by telephone, or online. If you volunteer to participate, you will be asked about your experiences and insights regarding hospital non-participation in MAID. You may choose to participate individually, or to invite others who have been involved in your MAID journey in a group interview.
 
Knowledge, experience, skills required:  Experience with hospital non-participation in MAID; may include MAID patients, family members, physicians or nurse practitioners.
 
Time commitment: This opportunity starts immediately. Participants will be invited to engage in one interview approximately 30-60 minutes in length.  If participants choose to share any additional information after the interview, they are welcome to schedule another meeting with the researcher, or to share their thoughts in writing if they prefer.
 
Location: The interview may occur in-person, by telephone, or online based on participants' preference and researcher availability.  The researcher is open to travelling to participants.
 
What you can expect from the research team: The researcher is a Public Policy PhD student with a background in Psychology.  While there are no guaranteed personal benefits from participating in this study, participants may benefit emotionally from this unique opportunity to explore complex feelings regarding MAID and sharing their personal experiences in a safe space.  This study also provides participants with an opportunity to inform policy that directly impacts them. 
 
 
Supports available to participate: No financial compensation.
