SHRF Impact Grant Opportunity: Rural and Remote Health - Dissemination of post-diagnostic materials to rural persons living with dementia and their care partners (working title).
Opportunity Details
Position type: Patient Partner

Number of positions available: 1

Organization: Department of Psychology, University of Saskatchewan.

Role overview: The patient partner will serve as a Knowledge User on the grant, which is someone who is interested in the applications of the knowledge generated from the research. We will require a Curriculum Vitae (CV - if needed, the research team will assist in creating this) outlining the Knowledge User’s experience with dementia, but can also include any past research experience if applicable. If the grant application is successful, the patient partner will be invited to monthly planning meetings and will help to review plan the dissemination of post-diagnostic supports for persons living with dementia and their care partners in Saskatchewan.

Knowledge, experience, skills required: We are looking for a person with lived experience of dementia (this can include care partners) with a preference for individuals who reside in rural Saskatchewan.

Time commitment: If the application is successful, the patient partner will attend hour-long monthly planning meetings over a two-year period. However, we require input at the application stage, and the first deadline is September 28th (at the very minimum for this deadline, we just need to confirm that we have at least one committed Knowledge User).

Location: Virtual via Zoom.

What you can expect from the research team: Our research team will lead the proposed study, however, the Patient Partner's input will be valuable. Our research team has worked with patient partners in the past, specifically persons with lived experience of dementia, and as such, the patient partner does not need to have past experience with research. The research team will help prepare the Patient Partner's CV if needed.

Supports available to participate: Expense reimbursement, Time-release (compensation to your employer, if required to allow participation in activities directly related to the research).

Submission of interest deadline: November 16, 2023
